Presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, who was recently endorsed by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, made a logical comparison regarding a knife-wielding man who attacked a police station in Paris and the growing unrest in Germany due to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s widely unpopular immigration policies.

Exactly one year after the Charlie Hebdo attacks, a man armed with a knife and wearing a fake explosive belt attempted to attack a police station in Paris, France, before he was shot and killed by authorities, reported Al Jazeera.(1)

A police union official said the assailant shouted “Allahu akbar,” or “God is great” in Arabic. His body was discovered “with a cell phone and a piece of paper with an emblem of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant group and a claim of responsibility written in Arabic,” Al Jazeera reported, citing a statement from a Paris prosecutor.

Trump draws comparison between latest terror attack in France and the rising unrest in Germany

In response, Trump took to Twitter, pointing out that France’s terror threat level remains higher than ever and that Germany is a total mess as well. Though tensions in both countries are clearly related (arguably due to their immigration policies), the mainstream media slammed Trump for not knowing geography, accusing him of saying that Paris is in Germany.

The New York Daily News reported that “shortly after a French cop shot and killed a knife-wielding man who stormed a Paris police station,” Trump “commented on a thwarted terror attack in Paris by implying that the French capital is actually in Germany.”(2)

“Someone get Donald Trump a map,” they wrote. “Paris, a city in France, is more than 200 miles away from neighboring Germany, an entirely different country. A two-hour plane ride separates Paris from Germany’s capital, Berlin.”

The NY Daily News’ attempt to slander Trump over this tweet is clearly a stretch; however, it illustrates just how desperate the mainstream media is to bring the GOP candidate down, reaching for literally anything they think can be taken out of context and used to attack the New York billionaire.

Does the general public really believe Trump thinks Paris is in Germany?

Sadly, certain members of the public fell for the bait as some took to Twitter, posting negative remarks complete with the hashtag “#ParisIsInGermany.”

Not everyone fell for the bait, however.

NY Daily News wraps up their story with one last dig, adding: “Last month, 41% of likely Trump voters said they would support bombing Agrabah — the fictional city from the Disney’s ‘Aladdin.’”

But what they’re not telling you is that only a small number (about 36%) of registered Democrat voters were opposed to bombing the fictional city of Agrabah, and Democrat supporters had the same reason as Republicans – because it sounded Muslim.

Trump remains unstoppable in the polls

Despite the repetitive attacks against Trump (many of which are incredibly pathetic, including the one mentioned in this article), the real-estate mogul continues to soar in the polls.

Trump received support from 32% of Republican voters in a recent poll out of South Carolina, with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz coming in second with 18% and former Fla. Gov. Jeb Bush in third with 13%, according to MyrtleBeachOnline.com.(3)

Following Palin’s endorsement, Trump gained an even stronger foothold in Iowa, providing him with a major boost less than two weeks before the state’s caucuses.
