Even the most dedicated prepper will occasionally forget an item that they need to have in their survival stockpile, especially when they’re in the midst of a disaster scenario.
However, if you’re here, you’re at least aware that you may occasionally need some reminding about the supplies that you need to have before SHTF.
Check your stockpile and see if you need one or several of the essential emergency supplies listed below.(h/t to DoomsdayMoose.com.)
When disaster strikes, you still need to maintain cleanliness in your home to avoid the spread of disease and infections. You can do this by stocking up on baking soda. This versatile product can be used to eliminate persistent and unpleasant smells.
If you’re stuck at home when SHTF, you can also use soda to keep your surroundings smelling fresh and clean. Baking soda can also be used whenever you need to start an in-depth cleaning session. Even in a survival scenario, maintaining the cleanliness of your surroundings can help you feel comfortable and relaxed.
In a survival scenario, you can benefit from gadgets. To prevent electrical emergencies, make sure you have backup electrical cord adapters. As long as you have adapters for different kinds of plugs, you can power important devices like battery chargers.
Don’t waste your money on a pair of cheap but mediocre walking boots. High-quality shoes may cost a bit of money but they’re a worthy investment, especially if you often go on outdoor trips. With a pair of sturdy boots, you’ll have an easier time if you need to walk for long stretches of time.
Sponsored solution from the Health Ranger Store: Lab-verified Nascent Iodine solution is a dietary supplement that provides your body with supplemental iodine to help protect your thyroid during radiation exposure. Nuclear accidents such as Fukushima (or nuclear war) can expose your body to radioactive iodine-131, a dangerous radioisotope. Pre-loading your system with stable iodine occupies the iodine receptor sites on your organs, causing your body to naturally expel radioactive iodine you may have been exposed to through air, food, water or milk products. This defensive strategy is recommended by nearly all health authorities, worldwide, including the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Discover more at this link.
During an emergency, you may need to forage for a while until you find enough food for your whole survival group. If you’re wearing the wrong shoes, you may suffer from blisters or other foot-related injuries. But if you have a good pair of walking boots, you can keep going as long as you’re comfortable. Try to get high-quality walking boots that are also tough and waterproof.
If you’re used to having a GPS in your vehicle, you need to start learning how to read a map so you can still get around when SHTF. With several updated maps, you can traverse your area even if the GPS goes down for good. Get some maps so you can safely travel roads in your area or if you have plans to bug out.
Make sure you have different kinds of rope in your stockpile, especially since cordage is crucial in a survival scenario. You’ll need some rope to tie down tarps or to lash poles together.
If you’re not sure what kind of rope to get, start with paracord and hemp and nylon ropes. Take the time to review your knot-tying so you know how to properly secure items that need to be tied down.
These days, people make all kinds of purchases using their credit or debit cards. But while these methods are convenient, they’re also the reason why not everyone has spare cash in their wallets.
When SHTF, you won’t have time to withdraw some money, especially if you need to go on an emergency supply run. Even if you have your credit or debit cards, when the power goes out stores won’t be able to process your payment while ATMs (automated teller machines) can’t dispense cash for you.
