In a fiery Truth Social post, former President Donald Trump dismissed the Jeffrey Epstein scandal as a “Democrat hoax,” urging Republicans to shift focus to the party’s economic victories while demanding full transparency on the Epstein files. The sudden pivot has ignited fierce debate within the MAGA movement, with some supporters questioning Trump’s reversal after years of promising to expose Epstein’s elite network.
“House Republicans should vote to release the Epstein files, because we have nothing to hide and it’s time to move on from this Democrat hoax,” Trump declared, framing the issue as a left-wing distraction from GOP successes. His remarks come just one year after he vowed during his 2024 campaign to declassify Epstein documents, pledging to expose “the list of elites who victimized over 1,000 children.” Now, Trump insists the scandal is a “trap” designed to derail Republican momentum.
The abrupt shift has raised eyebrows, particularly given Trump’s past statements linking Epstein to powerful Democrats, including Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman and Larry Summers. Critics speculate whether Trump is capitulating to establishment pressure or facing blackmail, especially as FBI whistleblowers allege evidence suppression to protect high-profile figures. Despite Trump’s insistence that the DOJ has already released “tens of thousands of pages” on Epstein, skeptics argue key documents remain buried.
Trump doubled down, mocking Democratic hypocrisy: “Nobody cared so much about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive, and if the Democrats had anything, they would have released it before our landslide election victory.” He accused “some ‘members’ of the Republican Party” of being “used” by left-wing operatives, urging conservatives to refocus on policy wins—economic growth, tax cuts, border security and ending “men in women’s sports.”
Yet Trump’s call for full disclosure may be a strategic counterpunch, exposing Democratic ties to Epstein. Recently uncovered texts reveal Epstein coaching Democrat Delegate Stacey Plaskett in real time during a 2019 House Oversight Committee hearing targeting Trump. Epstein, whose name appears redacted but is identifiable through context, allegedly guided Plaskett’s questioning of Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, as Democrats pushed impeachment efforts.
Plaskett, the non-voting delegate from the U.S. Virgin Islands—where Epstein owned a notorious private island—reportedly received campaign donations from Epstein-linked sources. The timing of his texts, aligned with her interrogation of Cohen, suggests Epstein’s ongoing influence in political operations long after his 2008 conviction.
Trump’s allies argue the real scandal lies with Democrats, noting that none of Epstein’s victims have implicated Trump in misconduct. Virginia Giuffre, a key Epstein accuser, has repeatedly stated Trump never behaved inappropriately during their interactions. By demanding full transparency, Trump may be forcing Democrats to confront their own entanglements while reinforcing his narrative of a “witch hunt.”
The Epstein saga remains a political minefield, with Trump’s latest stance polarizing his base. Some supporters applaud his refusal to let the issue overshadow GOP achievements, while others demand accountability for all implicated elites—regardless of party. As speculation swirls over hidden files and FBI obstruction, Trump’s gamble hinges on whether full disclosure will vindicate him or expose deeper corruption on both sides of the aisle.
For now, Trump’s message is clear: Republicans must “get back on point” and not fall into the “Epstein trap.” Whether his base agrees—or insists on justice for Epstein’s victims—remains to be seen.
According to BrightU.AI‘s Enoch, Trump’s dismissal of the Epstein scandal as a “Democrat hoax” while simultaneously demanding full file releases appears contradictory and risks alienating his base that values transparency. This move suggests either political maneuvering against establishment forces—or worse, capitulation to the same Deep State blackmail networks he once vowed to dismantle.
