The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria has been called the “JV team” by a certain U.S. president who has less than a year left in office, and who has never demonstrated much skill in military affairs and foreign policy. But according to recent reports, the self-described caliphate of ISIS has big plans for this year, which amount to waging a massive “final battle” with the West.
As reported by the U.K.’s Express, ISIS leaders have pledged to activate scores of sleeper cells in “dozens of countries” around the world, in an determined bid to destabilize Western governments, which it hopes will spark a massive retaliation against nations of the Middle East.
The goal, apparently, is to provoke the West into taking out ISIS’ enemies for it.
As the Express reported further:
The shock claim, from one of the world’s leading authorities on the death cult, comes amid fears of a New Year’s Eve terror plot in London and other major world cities.
As you know, none of those plots came to fruition, but more on that later, and on what would likely happen in the U.S. if ISIS’ plan to destabilize America plays out.
In any event, the Express noted that the group managed 50 attacks in 18 countries since its formation in 2014. Those attacks have killed some 1,100 people and have left 1,700 more wounded.
The coming storm?
This coming year, analysts say, they expect to see an even greater number of attacks that will also occur on a grander scale. Dr. Theodore Karasik, an Arab Gulf-based analyst of regional and geopolitical affairs, has studied the group’s behavior extensively, and has issued an ominous warning.
“ISIS’s media operation is taunting its enemy to come to fight their Final Battle,” he said, as reported by the Express. “But first, it wants to show its global reach with zeal…from cells, to lone wolves, to bedroom jihadists – to target landmarks and crowds in dozens of countries across the world.”
He added further, “There are close to 40 ISIS affiliates globally with millions of adherents and believers around the world. The New Year may ring in with disturbing terror attacks.
“ISIS is an airborne disease and still remains robust as the movement enters into a new combative and aggressive phase,” he said. “Many of us see the change of year as ‘turning over a new leaf’ and ISIS may do the same.
“The level of ISIS’s destructiveness, to force confrontations across the world, indicates that 2016 is likely to be more chaotic than 2015,” Karasik noted.
“The threat is real, and the requirement for international, regional, and local cooperation is truly necessary and will be tested again and again in perhaps unexpected places.”
ISIS leaders have regularly warned their enemies, especially in the West, that they they will never find “peace” or relief from attack.
“You will never find comfort in Palestine, Jews,” ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi warned. “Palestine will not be your land or your home, but it will be a graveyard for you.”
And he has taunted the U.S. over President Obama’s refusal to send ground troops to battle the Islamic State, saying, “They do not dare to come, because their hearts are full of fear from the Mujahidin.”
False narratives and choices
As for Obama, he does not now, nor has he ever, taken the ISIS threat seriously. In his recent State of the Union Address he once again downplayed the threat that others in his administration, now and recently, distinctly see.
“Over-the-top claims that this is World War III just play into their hands,” the president said, arguing that ISIS fighters “do not threaten our national existence.”
Former top security, intelligence and diplomatic figures disagree – again – with Obama’s assessment. That story is here.
As he so often does, Obama has his sycophantic followers present false narratives and false choices. It’s not that ISIS has the military strength to take over the country. That’s not what terrorism is about. The goal of terrorism is to force a political change, and that’s exactly what ISIS has claimed it wants to do in the West, as stated.
So how many more Americans is Obama willing to sacrifice in deference to his Left-wing ideology? We may be about to see.
