Undergoing chemotherapy is a devastating experience, mentally, emotionally and physically, and takes an immeasurable toll on the body. After all, chemotherapy is essentially poison.
The toxicity of chemotherapy drugs simply cannot be overstated. An article published by the Canadian Family Physician in 1990 stated, “Many cancer chemotherapeutic agents can produce toxicity, even at the usual therapeutic doses.”
The toxicity of chemotherapy treatments has continued to be documented and described. The Truth About Cancer even reports that secondary cancers are known to be caused by chemotherapy, along with many other symptoms and conditions. Chemotherapy is toxic, and detoxifying your body after treatment is essential to help minimize its hazardous effects on healthy cells and organs.
There are three great tonics for detoxing that you can easily make at home for yourself or a loved one. The first one is called the “Juicing Tonic.” To create it, simply juice together equal amounts of ginger, turmeric, lemon and fresh cranberries or cranberry juice. You should leave the peel on the ginger and the turmeric to get the most out of these ingredients. Buying organic ingredients is, of course, always preferable as well. After blending those ingredients together, add a dash of cayenne and black pepper and drink up. You should try to drink this beverage at least twice a day the first few days after treatment. After that, you can decrease the amount.
Another great detoxifying beverage is something called “Cranberry Lemonade.” You’ll want to combine a gallon of fresh distilled water, one cup of non-concentrated organic cranberry juice, the juice of three fresh, organic lemons, liquid stevia and cayenne pepper in a large container. The amount of stevia and cayenne you need is really up to you, but the more cayenne the better! It is suggested that you make a fresh gallon of this juice daily, and drink as much of it as you can throughout the day.
The last tonic is great for supporting the immune system and pulling toxins from your system. Known as “Doc Shillington’s Total Tonic,” this recipe is not for the faint of heart, but worth every drop. To make this tonic, you simply need to combine a handful each of garlic cloves, chopped onions, chopped ginger, chopped habanero peppers and chopped horseradish. Throw these ingredients in your blender, and then cover with an inch or two of raw apple cider vinegar before blending.
These are just some of the great ways you can support the health of your immune system and the rest of your body naturally.
